Almost every customer that has contacted us regarding our overseas vehicle shipping services has had questions – many of them have the same questions, truth be told, and so we’ve decided to create a separate frequently asked questions page for your convenience.

We’re going to answer some of the most common overseas auto transport questions we get asked, and hopefully you won’t have to ask any (because we’ve already answered them!). So read on and see what questions we can answer for you, and you can visit our regular car transport FAQ by clicking on the FAQ button in our menu bar.

Q: How is my vehicle transported overseas?
A: Your vehicle will be transported from the port via overseas auto transport carrier to the port in either Alaska or Hawaii, depending on where you’re shipping to.

Q: How long does overseas auto transport take?
A: If you’re talking about the overseas shipment specifically, it’ll take about a week from the day the cargo ship sets off from the port until it arrives at the destination port. If you’re asking how long it will take from pickup at the original location to when you can drive off with it at the destination port, typical turn around time is two to three weeks.

Q: How much will it cost to ship my car?
A: Auto transport overseas is fairly expensive, usually running anywhere from just under a thousand dollars to two thousand and up, depending on what you’re shipping, where you’re shipping from and where you’re shipping to. Car transport rates to Hawaii will generally be cheaper than Alaska, mainly because it’s easier for cargo ships to travel to Hawaii than Alaska due to the calmer seas.

Q: Can I ship personal belonging in my vehicle?
A: No. Federal and international law prohibit the transportation of any goods inside a vehicle while it is being shipped overseas.

Q: Do I need to pick my vehicle up at the port upon delivery?
A: Yes. You will need to be present at both the original pickup and the final delivery, in order to sign all necessary paperwork. If you cannot be there, you can have someone you know sign all the paperwork instead. If you need to store your vehicle at the port after delivery, you can, though it will probably end up costing you a bit in storage fees.

Q: Do you guarantee pickup and delivery dates for overseas auto shipping?
A: We do not provided guaranteed car transport services for overseas shipping, because there are so many variables that go into it that saying we can do all these things on all these dates, when really everything is sort of up in the air in terms of scheduling. You should call our office for more information.
